Sports and Fitness Supplements
If fitness and sports nutrition are a hobby of yours, you may have heard about sports and fitness supplements. But what are they? Do you need them?
Many professional bodybuilders and weightlifters use nutrition supplements to give them added vitamins and minerals their bodies lose during workouts. But most of us do not work out like these professionals do! You can still benefit from these sports supplements, and this is a short list of the most common ones, and ones that may be of use to you.
Protein Bars - Protein bars are exactly like protein powder that you would mix in a drink, except that they are in a solid form. A Protein Bar can be used as a high protein, low carb and low fat meal replacement, a snack, or a way to get protein when you arent home and cant mix the protein powder.
L-Glutamine - L-Glutamine can be one of the most EXTREMELY useful supplements there is. I wrote a pretty good description of it which includes what it is, what its used for and why it can be so useful. L-Glutamine is an amino acid, just like protein. It is the most abundant free amino acid in muscle tissue, and it plays a principal role in protein metabolism, cell volumizing, and anti-catabolism. Basically, that means it helps keep muscle tissue from breaking down. You want to build muscle and tone, not break it down!
Omega 3 Fish Oil – This supplement has so many benefits, entire books have been written on it! It lowers your risks for heart disease, lowers blood pressure, helps with depression, helps your mental abilities, and so much more! The only way to get it is from fish, but most people do not eat enough fish to truly benefit from it. Therefore, a supplement of Omega 3 is recommended for just about everyone!
