This 40-hour course is designed as an intensive immersion into the teaching techniques of the Primary Series of Ashtanga Yoga. Through working with partners each participant will learn safe and practical, hands-on adjustment techniques for every asana in the Primary Series. A variety of asana alternatives will be explored for students that may not be able to move into an asana fully. There will also be emphasis placed upon verbally guiding each other through the sequences so that by the end of the course each participant will be able to comfortably talk another student through the full series in 90 minutes while also providing adjustments in every posture. The philosophical aspects of Ashtanga Yoga will be woven into the context of the overall experience as questions arise. The course is open to all levels of practitioners. One need not be advanced to participate. It is good to have a variety of levels of experience within the course. That creates a realistic picture of an average classroom setting. It is also not necessary to be a teacher to attend. It is not even necessary to have the desire to teach. Many students have attended this course to merely enhance their personal practice. Those that do wish to teach however will find a wealth of invaluable tools to share with their students. As in all courses run by David Swenson there is sure to be plenty of laughter and fun woven into the experience.
